Meadowside Assessment Principles
We believe that assessment is used to judge how well children are achieving in the curriculum they have been taught and which areas they need more support and as such assessment is a key factor in our teaching and learning cycle. We this in mind we have these principles which determine our assessment approach.
Assessment for learning is ongoing so teaching is adapted as necessary throughout lessons to meet the needs of the children.
Assessment is used to inform children and parents /carers about progress, achievements and next steps in learning.
Assessment is used to support smooth transition between year groups so the receiving class teachers have a full understanding of how they have achieved in the previous year and which areas they may still need further support to achieve.
